No power? No problem!

The need for electrical power often reaches beyond existing public utility grids. For example, remote homes, remote villages in developing countries or remote equipment sites like cellular telephone towers. In these cases, a PV system can be installed to serve as the local utility grid. The Sunny Island series of inverters was engineered to be the heart of these remote systems.
The primary difference between an off-grid and a grid-tied system is the presence of batteries. In off-grid systems, batteries are used to store the power that is generated during the day. At night, the power stored in the batteries is used to supply AC loads. The batteries are then recharged by the sun the following day.

Ultimate Flexibility

One of the most innovative features of the Sunny Island is its ability to accommodate AC coupling. AC coupling means that all of the loads, as well as the power generation devices, are connected to the common AC bus on the output side of the inverter. The AC coupling concept has revolutionized off-grid system expansion by making the addition of new power sources and loads extremely simple. This concept also allows additional Sunny Island inverters to be connected making expansion of the overall system capacity a snap. The Sunny Island is a powerful, reliable and versatile solution for off-grid power needs.
