String Technology – A Simple Concept that Produces Optimum Power

If a solar system is made up of several sets of PV modules connected in series, each set in series is referred to as a “string”. Each string is connected to its own Sunny Boy inverter that is equipped with its own MPP tracker. This allows each string of PV modules to be operated at its optimum power point (maximum power point). This allows the overall performance of the entire system to be increased because it is made up of several strings, each operating at its maximum power point. It also means that faults in an individual module do not affect the entire solar array and that complex wiring is no longer necessary. As a user, you benefit from reduced installation costs, increased energy production and reliability.  

Multi-string Technology – Maximum Flexibility

The multi-string Sunny Boy inverters allow strings of PV modules with different operating characteristics, (due to different manufacturers or different orientation for example), to be used together in the same system – without losses in power production. This allows several strings of PV modules with different operating characteristics to be operated within their maximum power range through a single inverter.
