In principle, yes. But although there is plenty of quartz sand, the raw material for silicon production, bottlenecks in silicon production are possible due to growing demand worldwide. The solar industry is currently putting a lot of effort into expanding its production capacity in order to meet this growing demand. Work is also being done on the development of alternative materials that can deliver potential cost savings.
