Solar installations are virtually maintenance-free. The operating and maintenance costs for photovoltaic installations are therefore very low. It is important to check the system data regularly, though, so that any fault – as rare as they are in practice – is detected at an early stage.
Dust and dirt on the solar modules are generally removed to an adequate extent by rain and snow. If there is a more serious dirt problem (e.g. foliage or bird droppings), which is causing partial shading of the installation, this should be removed as quickly as possible.
